日本貝類学会と日本甲殻類学会の初の合同シンポジウムが、４月１５日に和歌山県白浜のホテル「シーモア」で行われました。瀬戸臨海実験所が hosting しました。150名余りの参加がありました。

Prof. Jeffsさんです。題目は Oliver Trottier and Andrew Jeffs (Institute of Marine Science, University of Auckland, New Zealand): The Dangerous Mating Game of the New Zealand Pea Crab.
この方々の研究はNational Geographic でも取り上げられ、世界的に有名になりました。

The Private Sex Life of Crustaceans Symbiotic with Molluscs: Model Systems in Behavioural Ecology. この方とは私は付き合いが古く、彼が学生のころ、アメリカの国際甲殻類学会で発表をし、私がその学生発表賞の審査員であったことがあります。それが最初の出会いで、以来、さまざまなところで顔を合わせています。2009年に私が東京海洋大学（品川）で国際甲殻類学会を催した時も、日本に来てくださいました。 |
