本論文はクモヒトデの中のAsterostegusという属の分類学的再検討です。ユウレイモヅル科のAsterostegus mainiとAsterostegus tuberculatusを再記載し、新種Asterostegus sabineaeを記載しました。この新種の種小名は、スウェーデン自然史博物館のクモヒトデ学者のSabine Sthorさんに献名したものです。
