海における木片の分解系

近年多発する豪雨災害によって、漁港が流木で埋め尽くされ、漁に出られないといった報道を目にする機会が増えた。長い年月を考えると、膨大な量の木片が海に流入している訳だが、もちろん、海は木片で埋め尽くされていない。これは、海洋生態系独自の木片分解系が存在しているためである。陸上生態系におけるシロアリや菌類を介した木片分解系に比べて、海における木片分解系はほとんど認知されていない。本セミナーでは、演者が学生時代に取り組んできた研究内容を中心に、海における木片分解系について紹介したい。
