A new species of the genus Cerapus (Crustacea Amphipoda) from Egyptian Red Sea

During an ecological study of the benthic amphipods in coastal area of Hurghada, Red Sea region, Egypt, in 2015, one unknown species of the amphipod genus Cerapus (Ischyroceridae) was found, which was associated with the intertidal red and brown macroalgae and hydroids. This species is described and illustrated here. It is distinguished from other congeners by its black spots on the first and second antennas and morphology of urosome and telson. This is the first representative of this genus from Egyptian Red Sea waters.
